Creative Community Convergence 2022 Commemorative Poster

a tribute to Thornton Sully & all creatives

Enhance AmperArt prints with special frames
AmperArt is my personal design project. Every month I create a piece of design that includes a common phrase & a stylized ampersand. This is an example of what I’ll be creating as a commemorative poster for the Creative Community Convergence 2022.

Hi, I’m Chaz DeSimone, graphic designer & typographer — but more about that later.

This is my first time attending Thornton Sully’s Creative Community Convergence.  What an amazing event! I am writing this live from Rancho Villaseñor — I couldn’t pre-write this, as I didn’t know what to expect.

All the talent and intelligence in the crowd is electrifying! I know it will spark my upcoming design work with heightened creativity and fun. And the food? Nothing like a spread infused by creatives!

As a thank you gift to Thornton and all the creative artists, writers, thinkers, inventors & cooks (the word “potluck” seduced me to mark my calendar) whom I am meeting today, I am inspired to design a commemorative poster for this event and offer a copy to everyone just for the asking.

The poster will follow my exclusive formula for the AmperArt series: a common phrase & a stylized ampersand. I am leaving the canvas blank until the perfect concept presents itself, based on what I am experiencing here today. (Take a look at past issues and you’ll get a sense of what the concept is using a phrase & an ampersand.) I will create the piece as a 20x30” original using vector & raster digital art & maybe some hand-drawn elements, lettering or photos scanned in. The master image will be placed into an 11x17” poster format, available to you for download from a link I will send you, or shipped to you as a printed poster, whichever you prefer.

The posters will be printed on museum quality archival stock with a subtle matte finish. They will be numbered in a limited run, and signed upon your request. Framing suggestions will be included.

If you wish to receive only the download link when the posters are ready, leave your name and email below. If you would like to receive a printed and numbered version, continue filling in your mailing address. Check the box if you want your poster signed (I prefer some pieces of art clean & uncluttered; I’ll leave this up to you). And please check the box that tells me you’d like to receive the latest AmperArt piece every month —it’s fun & fabulous & free!

I want a CCC 2022 poster!

I am signing off now so I can continue enjoying this wonderful party & potluck. Thank you Thornton, and a special thanks to Kristine Grant* for inviting me.

*Talk about creative! Kristine not only writes, speaks, sings, and tells fantastic stories, but her truly most unique gift is to “write what your heart truly wants to say.” She has saved marriages, business partnerships, concluded successful negotiations, and helped people express their deepest feelings in all types of relationships. She actually channels one’s feelings into her letters — absolutely amazing. Kristine’s latest book is called Relationshift. Hopefully you met Kristine here today. If not, visit KristineGrant.com and schedule a free 20-minute chat with her. If you want to be enchanted by a beautiful voice and playful lyrics, listen to Tina Rose (Kristine’s music moniker).

Thanks again for being part of my exciting experience at the Creative Community Convergence 2022. I’ll keep you updated about your poster. Till then, enjoy past editions of AmperArt starting with one of my favorites, about my dad: #51 Salt & Pepper.

51 Salt & Pepper
#51 Salt & Pepper was issued March 2014. It is about growing up with my dad. He was 51 when I was born & his hair was already gray, so I only knew him as the man with salt & pepper hair.

I did say there would be more about me down here, so visit this page on my design & typography site, Desimone Design, if you really have nothing else to do…or if you need some good design.
